qualifying. In sales, the process of determining
if a prospect will make a good customer. Determining
which travel product is right for a customer by asking
questions.
qualifying code. An alphanumeric designator
that identifies a special fare, promotion, level of
amenities, etc, on a ticket or other travel document.
quality assurance. In travel agency operations,
the process of checking an itinerary, PNR (qv), or other
reservation to insure its completeness and accuracy.
quarter deck. The stern section of the upper
deck, traditionally officers' quarters.
quay. (Pronounced "key.") A pier.
queen room. A hotel room with a queen size bed.
query letter. A business letter requesting information.
queue. (Pronounced "cue.") Brit. 1. v. To line
up to await service in turn, as at a bus stop. 2. n.
A line of people waiting for service or admittance.
3. n. A communications area or subsystem within a networked
computer system. 4. v. To route a communication, such
as a PNR (qv), on a CRS to a specific destination, such
as a travel agency.
quid. Brit. A pound sterling.
quin. Hotel room for five people.
quota. 1. The maximum number allowed. 2. A target
number to be achieved, as a sales quota.
quote. v. To state a price. n. The price so
stated.
